The RFID Book Dropbox is essentially a smart bin designed specifically for libraries. Patrons simply drop their returned books into the RFID Book Dropbox. As patrons drop their books into the RFID Book Dropbox, the device instantly scans each book using RFID readers installed within the bin.Then the RFID Book Dropbox communicates with the library's database in real-time as each book is scanned, its information is automatically updated in the database. This includes details such as the book's title, number, return status etc. After dropping off their books, patrons may receive a return notification confirming that their items have been successfully returned. This notification may be displayed on a screen or sent via email or SMS, depending on the library's preferences.
In this already cool device, we at 2CQR have integrated the bin full notification option to make it much more useful for librarians and users.
Bin Full Notification feature
The Bin full notification feature is a boon in book returns and maintenance processes. Let's delve into how this feature works and the advantages it brings to library management:
1. Notification : During the installation process, librarians are prompted to indicate their preference regarding bin full notifications. Upon their affirmative response, the notification feature is enabled within the dashboard interface. This allows librarians to monitor the status of the RFID Book Dropbox directly from the dashboard, where notifications regarding bin full percentage will be prominently displayed. For example, they may see notification in the dashboard indicating that the dropbox is 97% full, giving the status of the bin's capacity.
2. SMS Alerts for Proactive Management : For those libraries that require immediate attention to bin capacity, our system offers an option to enable SMS notifications. Librarians can register their mobile numbers to receive real-time alerts when the bin is almost full, allowing for proactive management and timely interventions.
3. Visual Representation with Progress Bar : To provide a visual representation of bin capacity, our dashboard features a Bin Full Progress Bar. This intuitive tool displays the percentage of bin capacity utilized, enabling librarians to know when it's time for maintenance at a glance.
4 . Bin Full Alarm : In situations where the bin reaches full capacity, the system activates the Bin Full Alarm (If enabled ). This feature promptly alerts library staff, ensuring they are informed to take necessary action (Clearing the bin). This proactive measure prevents bin overflow situations, minimizing inconvenience to patrons and ensuring uninterrupted service.
5. Bin Clearance button : Clearing the bin is effortlessly facilitated through our user-friendly interface. Located in the bottom corner, a prominent red "Clear Bin" button awaits librarians' action. Upon clicking this button, a confirmation dialogue promptly appears, asking whether they are sure to clear the bin to prevent any accidental bin clearance. If confirmed, the system promptly clears the bin, updating its status accordingly. However, it's important to note that the physical retrieval of books from the bin should be done manually, ensuring uninterrupted service.
